King Haakon VII of Norway was accompanied by Crown Princess Martha, Prince Harald, Princess Ragnhild, and Princess Astrid, as he returned to Norway on this day in 1945, exactly five years after the King fled in exile during the Nazi Occupation of Norway, when the Royal Family made a perilous escape and resided in London and the United States for most of the duration of the war. Crown Prince Olav had returned the previous month, just after the liberation of Norway. Learn more about the return by RoyaltyRobert.
