Spanish State Visit to Andorra

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain are on a two-day State Visit to the Principality of Andorra on March 25th and 26th, to highlight and reinforce the ties and bilateral relations between both countries, ahead of the the Andorran presidency of the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government. This is the first Spanish State Visit since the State Visit to Cuba in 2019, before the beginning of the Coronavirus crisis.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia began their State Visit at the historic headquarters of the General Council of Andorra, Casa de la Vall, where they were officially received by the Co-Prince of Andorra and Bishop of Urgell and the representative of the President of the French Republic, as well as the Cap de Govern (Prime Minister) of Andorra. After the official reception, the King and Queen had a meeting with the General Ombudsman of Andorra and the parliamentary authorities of the Principality of Andorra, before signing the Book of Honour and touring the Casa de la Vall.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia then visited the Community of Andorra la Vella, before having a meeting with the staff of the Spanish Embassy at the Andorra Park Hotel. The Queen then had a meeting with the Minister of Education and Higher Education of Andorra on the model of inclusion of students with disabilities in the three educational models, to learn about outstanding aspects of the educational system. The King held a meeting with the Cap de Govern of Andorra, Xavier Espot, together with the authorities of the Spanish and Andorran delegations, in the administrative building of the Government of Andorra.

In the evening, the co-Princes of Andorra hosted a State Dinner in honour of King Felipe and Queen Letizia at the Andorra Park Hotel, where both the King and the Bishop of Urgell gave speeches honouring the relationship between the Kingdom of Spain and the Principality of Andorra.
