The Wedding of Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany and Princess Hermine Reuss of Greiz, Princess Johann of Schönaich-Carolath at Huis Doorn in The Netherlands on this day in 1922. The couple married despite grumblings from his monarchist supporters and the objections of his children. Empress Hermine managed Huis Doorn and established her own relief organization, also publishing her memoir ‘An Empress in Exile: My Days in Doorn’, remaining in The Netherlands until the Kaiser’s death in 1941.
