King Harald (in the Order of St. Olav and the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit) and Queen Sonja of Norway (wearing Queen Maud’s Pearl Tiara and her Draper’s Company Brooch) were joined by Crown Prince Haakon (in the Order of St. Olav), Princess Märtha Louise (wearing King Olav’s Gift Tiara and her Diamond Necklace), and Princess Astrid (in Queen Alexandra’s Turquoise Circlet and Parure) as they hosted the Norwegian Centenary Ball at the Royal Palace of Oslo on this day in 2005, marking the end of a long year of celebrations, which included State Visits to Britain, Denmark, and to and from Sweden.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit was not present because she was just days away from giving birth to Prince Sverre Magnus
That was such an excellent time! I’m very nostalgic for the galas and celebrations to which we were accustomed. Thank you you from bringing all these memories to the fore. It sure gladdens the heart!
