Today marks the Anniversary of the Death of Deborah Mitford, Duchess of Devonshire, who passed away on this day in 2014! The youngest of the infamous Mitford sisters who married 12th Duke of Devonshire and made Chatsworth into a glorious tourist destination, the Duchess possessed some spectacular Heirlooms of the Cavendish Family, but also added quite a few heirlooms into the collection, including these Insect Brooches.  Continue reading

Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II

Foreign Royal Guests and Relatives and Heads of State and Representatives of 121 Countries joined the British Royal Family for the Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey on September 19th, followed by a Procession to Marble Arch and a Committal Service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. The late Queen, who passed away at Balmoral Castle earlier this month, had been Lying-in-State first at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh and then at Westminster Hall in London for the past week.

Spencer Diamond Rivière

Today marks the 125th Anniversary of the Birth of Cynthia, Countess Spencer, who was born on this day in 1897! The daughter of the Duke of Abercorn who married the 7th Earl Spencer and was a Lady of the Bedchamber to the Queen Mother for 35 years, Lady Spencer is perhaps best known for being the grandmother of Diana, Princess of Wales and also possessed the spectacular Jewellery Collection of the Spencer Family, the highlight of which are the Honeysuckle Tiara and Spencer Tiara but today we are featuring an even more important family heirloom; the Spencer Diamond Rivière!

Princess Armand d’Arenberg’s Diamond Earrings

Later today, Princess Armand d’Arenbeg will be buried at the Parish Church near the Family Seat at the Château de Gerbéviller. The Princess, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 101, was the eldest of the three daughters of Charles de Lambertye-Gerbéviller, Marquis de Gerbéviller and Lorena Sancho-Mata y Contreras, and married Prince Armand-Louis Hélie d’Arenberg in 1941, having two children, with the Princess having a special friendship with Prince Paul of Yugoslavia. The couple inherited the Château from her father and it remains the Family Home, though these spectacular Diamond Earrings that we are featuring today are no longer in their possession!
