As part of our Year in review series, we take a look at the the Royal Tiaras of 2016. With the grand 70th Birthday celebrations of King Carl XVI Gustav to the guests at the Albanian Royal Wedding in October, this year has been filled with Royal Tiaras. Here we will look at the Tiaras from each country. This is by no means a comprehensive list, as we haven’t covered Japan or exiled royal families, but it includes events we have covered on this blog. Crown Prince Leka of the Albanians married Ms Elia Zaharia on October 8th at the Royal Palace of Tirana. After the wedding ceremony, a reception was held at the Royal Residence. A number of representatives of foreign royal families were present, including Queen Sofia of Spain and Empress Farah of Iran. A banquet was held at the Royal palace in the evening. Continue reading
Prince Leka of Albania, pretender to the Albanian throne, will marry Ms Elia Zaharia on October 8th at the Royal Palace in Tirana. In one of her pre-wedding interviews, the bride has stated that she will wear a tiara from the groom’s family. As their grandest tiara, Queen Geraldine’s Wedding tiara, was auctioned decades ago, the only other option is the Sapphire Goat Tiara, which has been worn by Prince Leka’s mother and Grandmother.
