Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace 2022

The Royal Family hosted the annual Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace on the evening of December 6th, which is held for the first time in King Charles’ Reign and also for the first time since 2019, after an earlier Reception to be held in March was cancelled due to the war in Ukraine.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla were joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales for the annual Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace. The glittering white tie affair is the the main ambassadorial social event of the year in London. In addition to ambassadors, high commissioners and their partners, around 600 foreign diplomats based in London were among the guests together with around 300 British diplomats and senior figures from commerce, education, broadcasting and the arts. Like the past few years, there was a rota photographer who took pictures from inside the event, a shock even after a surprise portrait five years ago, the images from 2018, and those from 2019.

King Charles III wore White Tie with the Sash and Star of the Order of the Garter, the Garter on his knee, the Star of the Order of the Bath, the Neck Badge of the Order of Merit, his Medals, and other Insignia. Queen Camilla wore a navy Anna Valentine gown with the Belgian Sapphire Tiara with the George VI Sapphire Necklace, Sapphire Earrings, the Sash and Star of the Order of the Garter and the Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Prince of Wales wore White Tie with the Garter, Sash and Star of the Order of the Garter, the Star of the Order of the Thistle, and his Medals. The Princess of Wales wore a red Jenny Packham gown, the Lotus Flower Tiara,  the late Queens Antique Diamond Earrings, her Diamond Brooch, the Sash and Star of the Royal Victorian Order, and the Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II.

  1. What a great surprise! I was waiting for this to be announced all over the place, but could not find any information about it until I saw your post 🙂 It was a great relief to see that it is kept as a white-tie event and that is hopefully how it will stay for years and years to come. All four of them looked fantastic. The only downside (for me at least) was that none of the other working members of the Royal Family was there (though I see from past years that it is not an event at which all the family is gathered).
