This spectacular Emerald and Diamond Necklace, created in the European Style, originates with Queen Mother Sri Bajrindra, who gave it to Princess Rambai Barni Svastivatana when she married her youngest son, Prince Prajadhipok, in 1917. Princess (later Queen) Rambai Barni wore the Emerald Necklace in numerous configurations, with and without the pendants and sometimes even as a corsage ornament.

Like Queen Rambai Barni’s Diamond Fringe Tiara, the Emerald Necklace was given to Queen Sirikit by the 1960s, and was first worn for the State Banquet in Germany during King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit’s Tour of Europe in 1960. The Emerald Necklace was also worn during the Danish State Visit to Thailand in 1962, and continued to be worn occasionally up into the 1980s.

The most recent appearence of the Emerald Necklace came in the late 200s, when it was worn by Princess Srirasmi, the former wife of the now King Maha Vajiralongkorn, and mother of the current Thai Crown Prince, continuing a link of allowing the then future Queen to wear a generations old Royal Heirloom. Lets hope this significant necklace makes a reappearance soon.
