The Wedding of Sir Geoffrey Shakerly, 6th Baronet and Lady Elizabeth Anson, (wearing Princess Viggo’s Diamond Scroll Tiara) daughter of Viscount Anson and Anne Bowes-Lyon, later Princess Anne of Denmark and sister of Earl of Lichfield, at Westminster Abbey on this day in 1972. The couple had one daughter, Fiona, alongside Sir Geoffrey’s two sons, before separating in 1986 and divorcing in 2009. Sir Geoffrey passed away in 2012, and Lady Elizabeth in 2020. Lady Elizabeth’s Service of Celebration was held at St Margaret’s Church in Westminster last month.

Royal Guests and Relatives included the Queen, Queen Mother, Princess Beatrix of The Netherlands, Prince George Valdemar and Princess Anne of Denmark, Princess Margaret, Viscount Linley, the Duchess of Kent, and Prince Michael of Kent, while Princess Anne and Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones were bridesmaids.
