Today marks the 90th Anniversary of the Birth of the late Princess Margarita of Baden and Yugoslavia, who was born on this day in 1932! The only daughter of Berthold, Margrave of Baden and Princess Theodora of Greece, the eldest niece of the late Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Margarita was a nurse before she married and divorced Prince Tomislav of Yugoslavia, wearing these two splendid Tiaras througout her life!
Princess Marie Louise of Hanover received a Turquoise Tiara from her aunt, Princess Marie of Hanover, as a Wedding Gift when she married Prince Max of Baden in 1900. The Tiara was not publicly photographed until it was worn by their granddaughter, Princess Margarita of Baden, at the Coronation of her aunt, Queen Elizabeth II, in 1953.
Princess Margarita continued to wear the Turquoise Tiara and its accompanying Parure after her Wedding Ball of King Constantine of Greece and Princess Anne Marie of Denmark in 1964 and for a Dinner at Britwell House, home of Lady Pamela and David Hicks, ahead of a Ball at Sutton Hoo.the
Princess Margarita likely received this Diamond Tiara as a Wedding Gift when she married Prince Tomislav of Yugoslavia in 1957, wearing it at many grand royal occasions from the 1950s through to the 1970s, most notably at the Wedding Ball of Prince Juan Carlos of Spain and Princess Sophia of Greece in 1962.
The Tiara was pictured on Princess Margarita well into the 1980s, including a notable appearence at the International Monarchist League at the Hall of the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries in the City of London in 1975, and now likely belongs to her daughter, Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia.
