Lady Elizabeth Shakerley’s Service of Celebration

Princess Beatrix of The Netherlands and Sheikh Hammad bin Abdullah bin Thani of Qatar joined members of the extended British Royal Family at the Service of Thanksgiving for the life and work of the late Lady Elizabeth Shakerley (née Anson) at St Margaret’s Church in Westminster on June 23rd. The illustrious Royal Party Planner who was the daughter of a Princess Anne of Denmark, sister of the late Lord Lichfield and the Queen’s cousin, Lady Elizabeth passed away in 2020.

In addition to Princess Beatrix of The Netherlands (Lady Elizabeth was a bridesmaid at her Wedding) and Sheikh Hammad bin Abdullah bin Thani of Qatar, the Queen was represented by the Countess of Wessex and Forfar, and other members of the extended British Royal Family in attendance included Lady Sarah and Daniel Chatto, the Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Alexandra of Kent, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Lady Helen Taylor, Lord Frederick Windsor, Lady Gabriella Kingston, Zenouska Mowatt, and Sarah, Duchess of York as well as Lady Susan Hussey.

  1. Thank you very much for the report. Do you know the origin of the friendship between Princess Beatrix and Lady Elizabeth? Besides being a bridesmaid for Princess Beatrix, Lady Elizabeth also asked Princess Beatrix to be her daughter’s godmother.
