The Royal Family are launching the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend Festivities today with the splendid Trooping the Colour Ceremony, which is usually the highlight of the Royal Calendar on any given year, but this year will be even more special, so we are launching this open post to given LIVE coverage of the day (I’ll be in the crowd), so be sure to return regularly until the full article is published.

“Thank you to everyone who has been involved in convening communities, families, neighbours and friends to mark my Platinum Jubilee, in the United Kingdom and across the Commonwealth. I know that many happy memories will be created at these festive occasions.
I continue to be inspired by the goodwill shown to me, and hope that the coming days will provide an opportunity to reflect on all that has been achieved during the last seventy years, as we look to the future with confidence and enthusiasm.
ELIZABETH R.”

The Duke of Cambridge presided over the Colonel’s Review of the Irish Guards last week.
The Queen was able to be on the balcony! Hurray!!!! I was worried that she would be too unwell to stand for all that time. She looked beautiful! That shade of blue in her new dress suits her very well. That’s the one she wore for her Jubilee portrait. And she’s also wearing the Regimental brooch, which I think might have been worn first by Queen Alexandra. The balcony scene looked great! She was surrounded by all the working members of her family, many of them having worked for more than 35 years. The Cambridge kids were adorable- and so well behaved! All the ladies were very elegant, and we may count Lady Louise among the adults now. She looked wonderful! I can’t wait to see the rest of the events, especially the concert. Thank you so much for the effort you put in making all this information available to us! It’s the next best thing to actually being there! 😀
