Happy Birthday to Natalia Grosvenor, the Duchess of Westminster, who turns 63 today! The youngest child of Georgina Wernher, daughter of Sir Harold Wernher and Countess Anastasia de Torby, and Harold Phillips, the former lover of Lady Mountbatten, her sisters included the late Duchess of Abercorn. Descended from the Romanov Family and from the great Russian poet; Pushkin, with family links to Lord Mountbatten and the Duke of Edinburgh, the family grew up at Thorpe Lubenham Hall and Checkendon Court in Oxfordshire with frequent visits to Luton Hoo, the estate of her maternal grandparents, Sir Harold and Lady Zia Wernher, being educated at Evendine Court in Malvern. In 1978, Natalia Phillips married Earl Grosvenor, eldest son and heir of the Duke of Westminster. The couple succeeded to the Dukedom in 1979, and had three children, including the present Duke, before the Duke’s sudden death in 2016.

The current Duke controls fortune estimated at around £10.2 billion, making him the the world’s richest person aged 30, and the United Kingdom’s 10th richest person and the world’s 163rd wealthiest individual. The Grosvenor Family’s fortune dates back to 1677, and includes property in large parts of central London, though the family now has business interests in 62 international cities. As the Duke is unmarried, his mother is still styled as ‘Her Grace The Duchess of Westminster’, rather than Dowager Duchess. As Duchess, she presided over the remodeling of the family seat at Eaton Hall, and has been closely involved in the redesign of its formal gardens and park, takeing an interest in the family’s fine art collection. The Duchess is a director of Alex Moulton Bicycles and is is patron of a number of charities based in the north west, near the family home in Cheshire, including: Save the Family, CLIMB (Children Living with Inherited Metabolic Diseases), and Barrowmore House. The DUchess has continued the close links to the Royal Family and is a godmother of the Duke of Cambridge, while her son is a godfather to Prince George.
