Swedish State Visit to Denmark, 1952

King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid of Denmark hosted her father, King Gustaf VI Adolf, and Queen Louise of Sweden on their State Visit to Denmark on this day in 1952, the highlight of which was the State Banquet hosted by the King (in the Order of the Seraphim) and Queen (wearing the Pearl Poiré Tiara, the Danish Crown Diamond Parure, the Order of the Elephant, King Frederik’s Royal Family Order, and King Gustaf’s Portrait Brooch) in honour of King Gustaf VI Adolf (in the Order of the Elephant) and Queen Louise (wearing the Braganza Tiara and King Gustaf’s Portrait Brooch), at Christiansborg Palace. King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid had made their first State Visit to her native Sweden in 1947.

   

The following evening, King Frederik and Queen Ingrid (wearing the Danish Ruby Parure) joined King Gustaf VI Adolf and Queen Louise (in the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Tiara and Parure) for a Gala Performance at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, where they were joined by Hereditary Prince Knud, and Hereditary Princess Caroline Mathilde (wearing Princess Thyra’s Sapphire Tiara), Prince Axel of Denmark and Princess Margretha of Sweden and Denmark (in Princess Ingeborg’s Turquoise Star Tiara), Count Sigvard (the son of King Gustaf VI Adolf and brother of Queen Ingrid) and Countess Sonja Bernadotte (wearing the King Edward VII Ruby Tiara), Prince and Princess Viggo, and Princess Dagmar (in the Diamond Floral Tiara).
