Dutch State Visit to Japan, 1991

The Japanese Imperial Family hosted Queen Beatrix and Crown Prince Willem-Alexander of The Netherlands on their State Visit to Japan on this day in 1991, which began with an Official Welcome from Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko at the Imperial Palace, followed a State Banquet that evening hosted by the Emperor (wearing the Order of the Netherlands Lion) and Empress (in the Meiji Scroll Tiara and the Order of the Netherlands Lion) in honour of the Queen (wearing the Württemberg Ornate Pearl Tiara and the Order of the Chrysanthemum) and Crown Prince (in the Order of the Chrysanthemum).

Following a series of events on the following days, Queen Beatrix and Crown Prince Willem-Alexander hosted a Return Concert and Reception for Emperor Akihito, Empress Michiko, and other members of the Japanese Imperial Family at the Akasaka State Guesthouse.
