The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the first-ever Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony at the Alexandra Palace in London on October 17th. An exciting and star-studded group of internationally recognised performers, presenters and Earthshot Prize guests joined the Duke and Duchess, with the event a celebration of the natural world, focussed on turning the current pessimism surrounding environmental issues into optimism by celebrating the people and places driving change – the first-ever Earthshot Prize Finalists and Winners. The stars of the show were the five inaugural winners of The Earthshot Prize who were announced during the ceremony, which celebrates the ingenuity of all 15 Earthshot Prize finalists and their extraordinary work to tackle the challenges posed by climate change and the threats to our oceans, air, and land.

I want to say something to all the young people watching tonight:
For too long, we haven’t done enough to protect the planet for your future.
But Earthshot is for you.
In the next ten years we are going to act. We are going to find the solutions to repair our planet. pic.twitter.com/sDHwUn7FSn

Launched by Prince William and The Royal Foundation in October 2020, The Earthshot Prize has been inspired by President John F. Kennedy’s ‘Moonshot’ programme in the 1960s, which united millions of people around the goal of reaching the moon. The Earthshot Prize aims to incentivise change and inspire collective action around our unique ability to innovate, problem solve and ultimately repair our planet over the next ten years. The Earthshot Prize is based on five ‘Earthshot’ goals: Protect and restore nature; Fix our climate; Clean our air; Revive our oceans; Build a waste free world. Five £1 million prizes will be awarded each year for the next 10 years, providing at least 50 solutions to the world’s greatest environmental problems by 2030.

I Think Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge Is a Beautiful Woman
I Think Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge Is a Exquisite Princess
God Bless Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge
This is such an amazing initiative! The royals definitely have the high profile needed to make such a proposition as getting together to “save the planet” a reality. Giving a monetary award of significant value like £1 million is very important so that people can see a tangible encouragement to continue their work. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are also right on point with their recycled outfits and jewels. They looked great and besides, It is always a good idea to practice what you preach!
