Happy Birthday to Princess Tatiana of Greece and Denmark, who turns 41 today! The second daughter-in-law of King Constantine II and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, Princess Tatiana has attended a plethora of glittering royal events, sometimes wearing today’s featured jewel, the Greek Seed Pearl Brooch!
A small delicate brooch featuring eight seed pearls surrounding a diamond cluster, this brooch originates from the collection of Queen Ingrid and was likely given as a confirmation gift Queen Anne Marie, being worn a few times in the 1960s.
The Brooch was worn by Crown Princess Marie Chantal with the Miller Fringe Tiara at Gala Performance to celebrate Queen Margrethe’s Silver Jubilee in 1997 and for King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden’s 60th Birthday Banquet in 2006, being used to anchor the Sash of the Greek Order of Saints Olga and Sophia.
In 2013, the Seed Pearl Brooch was worn by Princess Tatiana for the Wedding of Princess Madeline of Sweden, making a nice pairing with the pearls and diamonds in the Antique Corsage Tiara and her Wedding Earrings, which were likely a gift from Queen Anne Marie.
Princess Theodora first wore the Seed Pearl Brooch at the Wedding of her cousin, Prince Joachim of Denmark, and Marie Cavallier in 2008 and more recently at Crown Prince Frederik’s 50th Birthday Gala Dinner at Christiansborg Palace, almost exactly 10 years later, in 2018, both times with the Antique Corsage Tiara. There is no doubt we will continue to see this delicate royal heirloom for years to come!
