The eldest son of Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien III and Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit, he became the 29th Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Brunei in 1967, and is the world’s second longest-reigning current monarch, as well as one of the world’s wealthiest individuals.
