Princess Elizabeth (wearing the Greville Ruby Floral Bandeau Necklace) dances with Earl Mountbatten of Burma at a Ball organised by the Central Appeal Council of the Royal College of Nursing at the Savoy Hotel in London on this day in 1951, just a few weeks after she attended the Flower Ball at the Savoy Hotel.

1951 was a busy year for Princess Elizabeth, beginning in Malta, with a visit to Italy and the Vatican, and then the Opening of the Festival of Britain, the Danish State Visit, and the Norwegian State Visit, which she hosted on behalf of her terminally-ill father. Later that year, she and the Duke of Edinburgh would go on an extensive Tour of North America and embarked on another Tour in early 1952, when she succeeded to the Throne.
