Dutch State Visit to Luxembourg, 1951

Grand Duchess Charlotte and Prince Felix of Luxembourg hosted Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard of The Netherlands on this day in 1951, during their State Visit to Luxembourg, the highlight of which was a magnificent Reception attended by the Queen (wearing the Dutch Diamond Bandeau and the House Diamond Parure) and Grand Duchess (in the Chaumet Emerald Tiara and Order of the Gold Lion of the House of Nassau) joined by Prince Bernhard and Prince Felix, as well as two of the Grand Duchess’ daughters.

The Dutch Royal Family have close ties to the Grand Ducal Family of Luxembourg, especially since the Grand Duchy used to be part of the Kingdom of The Netherlands until 1890, and there were notable Dutch State Visits to Luxembourg in 1981, 2012, and most recently in 2018.
