The Wedding Ball of Princess Marie Louise of Prussia, daughter of Prince Wilhelm Victor of Prussia and Countess Marie Antoinette Hoyos-Sprinzenstein (wearing the Schönburg-Glauchau Necklace Tiara), and Count Rudolf ‘Rudi’ of Schönburg-Glauchau, son of the Count of Schönburg-Glauchau and Countess Maria Anna Baworowska z Baworowa, at Schloss Donaueschingen on this day in 1971, on the eve of their Wedding. Schloss Donaueschingen is the seat of the Prince of Fürstenberg whose mother was a Countess of Schönburg-Glauchau.

Royal Guests and Relatives in attendance included the Prince of Prussia, Princess Victoria Louise, Duchess of Brunswick (wearing the Brunswick Tiara), the Princess of Bismarck, and the Prince and Princess of Fürstenberg (wearing the Fürstenberg Diamond Tiara) among a host of Royal and Nobles Guests from around Germany.

Oh, “the good old days” 🙂 It’s a shame that most reigning Royal Houses has stopped the tradition with pre-wedding grand galas and that non-reigning Houses normally don’t let photographers in when they have them. I had seen some of these photos of Princess Victoria Louises already on the net, but didn’t know which event they were from. Now I know. Thanks for the great post!

      1. I just looked at some more photos from this event on Getty Images and they even had some photos of the food served at the banquet. Very 70-ties, but as I mentioned elsewhere it is so nice to see coloured photos from this glittering events from the past.
