The Norwegian Royal Family celebrated Constitution Day, the National Day of Norway, on May 17th, in a very different manner than their usual celebrations due to the ongoing pandemic. The Day celebrates the signing of the Norwegian Constitution in Eidsvoll on 17 May 1814, which declared Norway to be an independent Kingdom
In the morning, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit were joined by Princess Ingrid Alexandra, and Prince Sverre Magnus, with their dogs, as they met representatives of the municipality’s schools, corps and choir, scouts at the gate outside Skaugum, the residence. Then, the Family drove through the town of Asker, visiting the Gullhella living and care center, Korpåsen housing association and Blakstad school.

Afterwards, King Harald and Queen Sonja were joined by Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit were as they rode around Oslo, visiting Årvoll, Økern, Tøyen, Grünerløkka and Sagene before they arrived at Rådhusplassen. Later, the entire Royal Family, including Princess Astrid, Princess Märtha Louise and her family, watched a Boat Parade in the Oslo Fjord from the Royal Yacht Norge, which then traveled on to Tønsberg.
