Wedding of Infante Alfonso, Duke of Calabria and Princess Alice of Bourbon-Parma, 1936

The Wedding of Infante Alfonso, Duke of Calabria, son of Prince Carlos of Bourbon-Two Sicilies and Mercedes, Princess of Asturias, and Princess Alice of Bourbon-Parma, the daughter of Elias, Duke of Parma and Archduchess Maria Anna of Austria, in Vienna on this day in 1936, which included King Alfonso XIII of Spain (the groom’s uncle), Empress Hermine of Germany, and Infanta María Cristina, among the guests. The Duke and Duchess had three children, including Prince Carlos of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, and lived mainly in Spain, where they were close to the Spanish Royal Family, until his death in 1964. Infanta Alicia passed away in 2017.

Princess Alice received a plethora of magnificent jewellery as wedding gifts, most notably the Calabria Sapphire Tiara as well as a few Jewels from the Bourbon Parma Family, though only those jewels made by Chaumet were publicly displayed as her ‘Corbeille de Mariage’.
