The Prince of Wales arrived in Australia on this day in 1966, at the start of his two terms at the Timbertop Campus of Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, during which time he visited Papua New Guinea on a school trip with his history tutor, Michael Collins Persse. The Prince later described his time at Timbertop as the “most enjoyable part of my whole education.” He returned to Gordonstoun and later attended Trinity College, Cambridge and the University College of Wales in Aberystwyth.
