Royal Family (1969)

An amazing find for Royal Watchers today! The 1969 Royal Family Documentary is currently available to watch on Youtube! A huge success when it was first broadcast, with 30.6 million viewers in the United Kingdom, the Royal Family felt that it offered too much insight into their personal life, and protected by crown copyright, it has not been publicly shown in its entirety since 1972.

Note- As with most royal documentaries but this one more so in particular, the video will only be available for a few days before being deleted, and while we do tend to continually update with new videos, it is recommended that you watch the programme as soon as possible.

Filmed between June 1968 and March 1969, the Documentary features a plethora of notable events from the Royal Family’s public and private life, including the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh’s State Visit to Brazil, a Gala Performance at Covent Garden, the Commonwealth Prime Ministers’ Conference, Duchy of Cornwall Meetings, Summer Holiday at Balmoral, a stay on the Royal Yacht Britannia, the Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace, and Christmas at Windsor Castle.

  1. I was just able to have a quick look at it yesterday before it was gone! A real shame, because the documentary seemed very interesting. I dare hope that it might be available again – even if only for a short time once more – as there were a few things I would have liked to study a bit more closely.
