King Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden was joined Queen Louise (wearing the Braganza Tiara), Princess Sibylla (in the Connaught Diamond Tiara), Prince Bertil, Princess Ingeborg (wearing the Boucheron Pearl Circle Tiara), and Prince Wilhelm as he presided over the Swedish State Opening of Parliament (Riksdagens Högtidliga Öppnande) in the Hall of State of the Royal Palace of Stockholm on this day in 1951, the first State Opening of the King’s Reign, during which he made his first Speech on the Swedish Throne and presided over a divine service at the Royal Chapel.
