In addition to all the live events, we have also featured a plethora of flashback articles this year, particularly from 1960 (60 years ago), which include the Danish State Visit to Norway, the Ball at the Royal Palace of Stockholm, the French State Visit to Britain, the Wedding of Princess Margaret, the Dutch State Visit to Belgium, the Scandinavian Princesses in the United States, the Wedding Ball and Wedding of Duke Carl of Württemberg and Princess Diane of Orléans, the State Visit of the King and Queen of Nepal to Britain, King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit’s Tour of Europe, the Danish State Visit to the United States, Crown Prince Akihito and Crown Princess Michiko’s Visit to the United States, Iran, Ethiopia, and Nepal, Princess Birgitta and Princess Désirée in New York City, the Liechtenstein State Visit to the Vatican, the Wedding Ball, Wedding Banquet, and the Wedding of King Baudouin and Doña Fabiola de Mora y Aragón among a host of other Royal Events.
I’m amazed to see all the events that took place in spite of the pandemic. It’s especially notable the number of weddings that took place! Those might have been bigger media events than they were, but I’ll bet their simplicity made them all the less stressful and more enjoyable for the couple. In any case, the brides looked beautiful on their day! Thank you for putting this list together. It’ll be most excellent to take my time re-reading them before the year is out.
