Sad news out of Belfast this week! Lady Moyra Campbell CVO, has passed away at the age of 90. The eldest child and only daughter of the 4th Duke of Abercorn and Lady Kathleen Crichton, she grew up at Baronscourt, the Abercorn Family Seat in Northern Ireland, and in 1953, she was selected to be one of the six maids of honour at the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Lady Moyra served as a Lady in Waiting to Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy between 1954 and 1969, serving on many important tours, including the Nigerian Independence Celebrations in 1960. In 1966, she married Commander Peter Drummond Campbell LVO RN and the couple had two sons, residing at Hollybrook House, Randalstown, Co Antrim. Lady Moyra was a tireless campaigner of charities, serving as the President of Cancer Fund for Children and Honorary President of Early Years, alongside still attending a varierty of Royal Events, like the Coronation 60th Anniversary Service in 2013. Lady Moyra passed away at a Nursing Home in Belfast and is survived by her husband and two sons. We offer our condolences to her family at this difficult time!
