Happy Birthday to Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi of Iran, who turns 60 today! The eldest son of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and Empress Farah of Iran, Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi was born the much-awaited Heir to the historic Persian Empire. Educated at the Reza Pahlavi School inside the Palace in Tehran, the Crown Prince was trained as a pilot, and sent as a cadet of the Imperial Iranian Air Force to the United States in August 1978 which he left before completion due to the Iranian Revolution in March 1979. After attending and dropping out of Williams College in 1980 and The American University in Cairo, Crown Prince Reza obtained a BSc degree in political science by correspondence from the University of Southern California in 1985. Also in 1985, he married Yasmine Etemad-Amini, and the couple have three daughters. The Head of the Pahlavi Dynasty after the death of the Shah in 1980, just months into their exile, Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi is the founder and leader of the self-styled National Council of Iran, an exiled opposition group, and is a prominent critic of Iran’s Islamic Republic government.
