Happy Birthday to Prince Gabriel of Belgium! The second child and eldest son of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium, he is currently the second in line to the Belgian Throne of Belgium after his sister, the Duchess of Brabant. Prince Gabriel was christened at Ciergnon Castle and his godparents are his maternal uncle, Count Charles-Henri d’Udekem d’Acoz, and his paternal second cousin, Baroness Maria Christina von Freyberg-Eisenberg. Prince Gabriel began his school at St John Berchmans College, and moved to the International School of Brussels (ISB) in Watermael-Boitsfort, an English-language private school. He will be studying at the National Mathematics and Science College in Warwickshire from 2021. Prince Gabriel plays the piano, and plays football, cycling, tennis, swimming, skiing, sailing. He was also a member of Royal Evere White Star Hockey Club until he quit to focus on his school work. Prince Gabriel is attending the Royal Military Academy of Belgium, studying social and military sciences in Dutch and is a part of the 162nd class. In September 2022, the Prince received his blue beret and trained under the name “Gabriël van Saksen-Coburg”, participating in the 2023 Belgian National Day Parade.
