The Queen is joined by the Earl of Carnarvon as they view the Lord Porchester’s XI vs Duke of Edinburgh’s XI Cricket Match at Highclere Park in Hampshire on this day in 1958, in aid of the National Playing Fields Association, near the Carnarvon Family seat of Highclere Castle (the famous Downton Abbey). Lord Porchester, the Heir to the Earldom was the Queen’s lifelong friend and later racing manager.
