The Wedding Ball of Duke Carl of Württemberg, son of the Duke of Württemberg and Archduchess Rosa of Austria (in the Württemberg Sapphire Tiara), and Princess Diane of Orléans (wearing the Ruby Tiara and Parure), daughter of the Count of Paris and Princess Isabelle of Orléans-Braganza (in the Orléans Sapphire Parure), at Schloss Altshausen on this day in 1960, on the eve of their Wedding. 1. My goodness! Whatever possessed Princess Diane to wear her tiara upside down! Its design doesn’t lend itself for such experiments. I’m sorry that it doesn’t look good on her in spite of her beauty and youth. It reminds me of the Duchess of Bajadoz’ daughter-in-law Barbara Cano who also used her mother-in-law’s sapphire tiara upside down- which was a bit more successful, though not by much.
