Happy Birthday to Lady Elizabeth Anson, who turns 79 today! The daughter of Viscount Anson and Anne Bowes-Lyon, later Princess Anne of Denmark and a niece of Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother, she was born at Windsor Castle and educated at Downhall School in Hertfordshire, before she moved into the family seat of Shugborough Hall when her brother become the 5th Earl of Lichfield (the famous society photographer) in 1960. In 1972, Lady Elizabeth married Sir Geoffrey Shakerley, 6th Bt, another society photographer, at Westminster Abbey, and they had one daughter, Fiona Shakerley, before their divorce in 2009. Lady Elizabeth has been the Queen’s party planner since 1960, starting work as a debutante, being made a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order earlier this year. Notable occasions she has organised include the Queen’s 80th Birthday, King Constantine’s 50th Birthday, Weddings of Crown Prince Pavlos and Princess Alexia of Greece, and Prince William’s Pre-Wedding Dinner. Through her family connections, Lady Elizabeth is close to many royal families. A bridesmaid at the wedding of Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands, in recent years, she attended King Harald and Queen Sonja’s 80th Birthday Banquet, the Funeral of Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg, and the Dutch State Banquet at Buckingham Palace.   1. Happy Birthday to Lady Anson! I’m wondering if that lovely tiara she’s wearing is the Princess Viggo tiara that her mother used to wear. It sure looks like it!

  2. I do like the way you have presented this particular difficulty and it does indeed give me personally a lot of fodder for thought. However, because of just what I have experienced, I just simply hope when the feed-back pile on that people continue to be on issue and don’t start upon a tirade of the news of the day. Yet, thank you for this excellent piece and though I can not really agree with the idea in totality, I value your viewpoint.
