The Civil Wedding Ceremony of Princess Birgitta of Sweden, daughter of Prince Gustaf Adolf of Sweden, Duke of Västerbotten and Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (wearing the Cameo Tiara), and Prince Johann Georg of Hohenzollern, son of the Prince of Hohenzollern and Princess Margarete Karola of Saxony, at the Royal Palace of Stockholm on this day in 1961, followed by a magnificent Ball at the Royal Palace of Stockholm.

Following the Civil Ceremony, Princess Birgitta (wearing the Hohenzollern Clover Coronet) and Prince Johann Georg had a Roman Catholic Ceremony in the Sankt Johann Church at Sigmaringen Castle in Germany. The couple had three children and separated in 1990, remaining married until his death in 2016. Princess Birgitta of Sweden resides in Spain, and is currently staying with King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia at Stenhammar Palace.
