Dutch State Visit to Denmark, 1953

King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid of Denmark hosted Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard of The Netherlands on their State Visit to Denmark on this day in 1953, the highlight of which was the State Banquet hosted by the King (wearing the Order of the Netherlands Lion) and Queen (in the Pearl Poiré Tiara and the Danish Crown Diamond Parure) in honour of the Queen (wearing the Dutch Diamond Bandeau and the Order of the Elephant) and Prince (in the Order of the Elephant) at Christiansborg Palace, which was also attended by Hereditary Prince Knud, and Hereditary Princess Caroline Mathilde (wearing Princess Thyra’s Sapphire Tiara), Prince Axel of Denmark and Princess Margretha of Sweden and Denmark (in Princess Ingeborg’s Turquoise Star Tiara), Princess Margretha of Denmark and Bourbon-Parma (wearing the Floral Tiara), Count Sigvard and Countess Sonja Bernadotte (wearing the King Edward VII Ruby Tiara), Princess Viggo, and Princess Dagmar (in the Diamond Floral Tiara).

The following evening, King Frederik, Queen Ingrid (wearing the Danish Ruby Parure), Queen Juliana (in the Württemberg Ornate Pearl Tiara) and Prince Bernhard attended a Gala Performance at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, where they were joined by Hereditary Prince Knud, and Hereditary Princess Caroline Mathilde (wearing Queen Alexandrine’s Fringe Tiara), Prince Axel of Denmark and Princess Margretha of Sweden and Denmark (in Princess Ingeborg’s Turquoise Star Tiara), Princess Viggo, and Princess Dagmar (in the Diamond Floral Tiara).
