The Wedding of King Letsie III and Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso of Lesotho in Maseru on this day in 2000, in a ceremony was conducted by Archbishop Bernard Mohlalisi in the Setsoto Stadium, with 40,000 people present including the Prince of Wales, the King of Swaziland, and Nelson Mandela, followed by a Procession though Maseru and a Reception at the Royal Palace. This was the first time in the history of modern Lesotho when a member of the Royal Family had married a commoner, and the King and Queen have three children.
