The Wedding of Archduke Carl Ludwig of Austria, the fifth child of Emperor Charles I and Empress Zita of Austria, and Princess Yolande of Ligne, daughter of 11th Prince de Ligne and his wife Philippine de Noailles, at the Château de Beloeil, the family seat of the House of Ligne, in Belgium on this day in 1950. The couple, who were childhood sweethearts, had four children, including Archduke Carl Christian, and settled in New York City, where the Archduke worked for the Rockefeller Foundation, until returning to Belgium, where he passed away in 2007.
