Sapphire, Emerald, Ruby and Diamond Pin

Estimate: 75,000 — 100,000 CHF

Presented by Emperor Napoleon to Countess Waleska, later owned by Princess Marthe Bibisco

A rare sapphire, emerald, ruby and diamond pin, from the early 19th century, in a case stamped Cartier with a plaque inscribed ‘Presented by Emperor Napoleon Ist to Countess Waleska’, who became the Emperor’s Mistress in 1807. Later, the pin was given by Philip Albert Gustave David Sassoon, 3rd Baronet of Kensington Gore to Princess Marthe Bibesco, a celebrated Romanian-French writer, socialite, style icon and political hostess.

Diamond Tiara

Estimate: 30,000 — 50,000 CHF

A Diamond Tiara, of floral and foliate design, from the late 19th century, set with cushion-, pear-shaped, circular-cut and rose diamonds, with maker’s mark for Gustav Flach. The three floral motifs are detachable.

Amethyst, Seed Pearl and Diamond parure

Estimate: 15,000 — 20,000 CHF

Formerly in the collection of Princess Victoria Luise of Prussia

A Koch amethyst, seed pearl and diamond parure, comprising a necklace of woven seed pearls, with a detachable pendant set with rose diamonds and a drop-shaped amethyst, a pendant that may be worn as a brooch, a bracelet, and a pair of earrings which belonged to Princess Victoria Luise of Prussia, the only daughter of Kaiser Wilhelm II.

A Cartier Diamond Necklace/Tiara, from the 1930s, comes from the collection of Christian, Lady Smith, the wife of Sir John Smith, a well known banker and philanthropist who founded the Landmark Trust and became the Member of Parliament for Westminster in the 1970s. The tiara, which was inherited by Lady Smith from her mother, was worn at several State Openings of Parliament and State Banquets. Her sister-in-law was Fortune, Duchess of Grafton, the Queen’s Mistress of Robes.

A pair of Emerald and Diamond Earrings, mounted by Harry Winston in 1973, and a magnificent Cartier Emerald and Diamond Necklace, come from the collection of Princess Salimah Aga Khan (famously worn at Princess Caroline’s Wedding Ball in 1978), and were auctioned at Christie’s in Geneva in 1995.

A Chaumet diamond and rock crystal sautoir, detachable to be worn as bracelets, necklace, and brooches, circa 1929, was formerly in the collection of Comtesse Molitor.
