Princess Grace’s Gold Leaf Suite

The 12th of November will mark the 90th Anniversary of the Birth of Princess Grace of Monaco, the glamorous American Actress who became the Princess Consort of the small Mediterranean Principality, so we are taking a look at her Top 9 jewels, starting with her Gold Leaf Suite.

Consisting of a necklace, pair of earrings, and a bracelet in a modern gold ‘Grain de Cafe’ (coffee bean) design, the Gold Leaf suite, in the style of the 1940s and 50s, belonged to the actress Grace Kelly long before she became the Princess of Monaco, and continued to be worn after her marriage, notably in a family portrait and in Seville in 1966.

After Princess Grace’s untimely death, the Gold Leaf Suite went into the ‘Palais Princier Collection’, but has only been worn by her elder daughter, Princess Caroline of Hanover, along with most of the jewels we will feature in this series. After the suite was displayed at the Grimaldi Forum in 2007, Princess Caroline most notably wore it on the day her nephew and niece, Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, who superseded her in the line of succession, were presented to the Monegasque public. She also wore it on National Day in 2016, and there is no doubt she will continue to wear the suite in the future.
