Spanish State Visit to South Korea

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain are on a 3-Day State Visit to South Korea at the request of the Spanish Government to celebrate and build diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between the Republic of South Korea and the Kingdom of Spain from October 23rd and 24th. Before the visit, the Royal Couple attended the Enthronement of Emperor Naruhito of Japan.

On the morning of October 23rd, King Felipe and Queen Letizia arrived, from Japan, at the military airport in Seoul, later visiting the Seoul National Cemetery, to make a Floral Offering, before crossing the Memorial Gate to make a offering, depositing a incense in the place and keeping a minute of silence.

Afterwards, King Felipe and Queen Letizia were officially welcomed by President Moon Jae-In and First Lady Kim Jung-sook at the Blue House (Cheong Wa Dae), followed by a signing ceremony attended by the King and President, while Queen Letizia and First Lady Kim Jung-sook had a meeting. Later, the King had a meeting with former United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, at the Four Seasons Hotel.

In the evening, the President and First Lady hosted a State Banquet and Cultural Performance in honour of King Felipe and Queen Letizia, at the the Blue House, where both the King and President gave speeches.

The following morning, King Felipe hosted a breakfast with the representatives of the main industrial conglomerates of the Republic of Korea, and open the Spain-Korea business meeting, before visiting the National Assembly of Korea for a brief meeting with the leaders of the main political parties. Meanwhile, Queen Letizia visited the headquarters of the Commercial Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Korea (KOTRA).

Later, the King and Queen visited the Seoul City Hall, where they were appointed as honorary citizens of the city of Seoul , before touring the LG Sciencepark and the Innovation Gallery to observe innovations in robotics, automotive, energy saving, home automation and artificial intelligence. Later, King Felipe and Queen Letizia hosted a Reception for Spanish Citizens residing in South Korea.
