Emperor Naruhito’s Enthronement Tea Party

Emperor Naruhito of Japan is being Officially Enthroned as the 126th Emperor on the Chrysanthemum Throne in a series of Ceremonies and Banquets in Tokyo this week, with a multitude Royal Guests from around the world in attendance. Emperor Naruhito acceded to the Chrysanthemum Thone in May after the abdication of Emperor Akihito the previous day. On the afternoon of October 23rd, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako hosted a tea party for their Foreign Royal Guests at the Akasaka Imperial Palace, which was attended by members of the Imperial Family, including Emperor Emeritus Akihito and Empress Emerita Michiko.

Alongside members of the Imperial Family, Royal Guests and Dignitaries included King Carl XVI Gustaf and Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, King Letsie III of Lesotho and Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso, King Norodom Sihamoni and Princess Norodom Arunrasmy of Cambodia, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk and Queen Jetsun of Bhutan, King Mswati III and Queen LaMashwama of Eswatini, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of The Netherlands, The Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong of Malaysia, King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipauʻu Tukuʻaho of Tonga, The Sultan of Brunei, Prince Albert II of Monaco, The Prince of Wales, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan, Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein, Crown Prince Salman of Bahrain, Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad of Kuwait, and Prince Turki bin Mohamed of Saudi Arabia.
