The Queen, accompanied by the Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cronwall, and Peter and Autumn Phillips, attended the annual Braemar Highland Gathering in Braemar, Ballater, Aberdeenshire on September 7th. The Royal Party were driven to their stand on Royal Deeside, and sat down after meeting officials. They watched competitors compete in Running, Heavy Weights, Solo Piping, Light Field and Solo Dance. There has been an annual gathering at Braemar, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, for over 900 years.
This has always seemed like such fun to me! It’s definitely in my list of things to do, along with the Edinburgh tattoo. They fall relatively close together, so maybe I can do both the same year! The Queen, the Prince of Wales, and his wife all look very nice, but I can’t help but notice how excellent Autumn Philips always looks when she’s out and about with the royal family. She’s Canadian, yet she has adapted to the royal ways perfectly and has never put a foot wrong. She, her husband Peter, and their two darling girls make such a lovely little family!
I agree, it seems like a wonderful event!
So fabulous. The DoCornwall is the star here- I love her pink coat and burgundy hat pairing. Really fantastic. Looks like fun!
