Happy Birthday to King Letsie III of Lesotho, who turns 56 today! The eldest son of King Moshoeshoe II and Queen ‘Mamohato of Lesotho, Prince David Mohato Bereng Seeiso was educated at Ampleforth College in the United Kingdom, the National University of Lesotho, the University of Bristol, Wolfson College, Cambridge, and Wye College. King Letsie first became King in 1990, when his father was forced into exile until 1995, when King Moshoeshoe was reinstated for a year until his death in a car crash, when King Letsie again succeeded to the throne of the small South African Nation, formally crowned in 1997. In 2000, King Letsie married Karabo Motšoeneng, and has two daughters and one son: Princess Senate Seeiso, Princess ‘Maseeiso, and Crown Prince Lerotholi Bereng Seeiso. As a constitutional monarch, King Letsie III carries of ceremonial duties and often represents Lesotho abroad. He has a keen love for agriculture, spending most of his leisure time visiting his family cattle posts. I wish HM a very Happy Birthday and Many Happy Returns!
