Order of the Garter Service 2019

The British Royal Family attended the Service for the Most Noble Order of the Garter at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle on June 17th. The oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry in Britain, click HERE to learn about the Order of the Garter.

Ahead of the service, a Lady Companion, Lady Mary Peters, and a Knight Companion, the Marquess of Salisbury, were invested with the Order’s insignia by the Queen in a private Investiture in the Garter Throne Room, along with investing King Felipe of Spain and King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands as Stranger Knights Companion of the Order of Garter. King Felipe received the Order in 2017, while King Willem-Alexander received it last year. The Investiture was followed by a Luncheon in St. George’s Hall ahead of the Garter Knights and the Royal Family processing on foot to St George’s Chapel for the Service, while the Queen arrived by car.

Afterwards, the Queen and members of the Royal Family departed by carriages for their return journey to the Castle. Queen Letizia (wearing the Joyas de Pasar Earrings), Queen Máxima, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duchess of Cambridge (in Princess Diana’s Collingwood Pearl Earrings), the Countess of Wessex, Sir Tim Laurence, and the Duchess of Gloucester were also present along with the other spouses of the Garter Knights.
