Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary in South Korea

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark have just completed an Official Visit to South Korea from May 20th to the 22nd, to focus on sustainable energy and urban development, health and welfare technology as well as food and lifestyle and to strengthen the connections and the strategic partnership between the two countries and create visibility about the cooperation opportunities and positions of Danish companies in South Korea.  2019 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Denmark and South Korea.

On May 20th, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary met President Moon Jae-in and First Lady Kim Jung-sook, at the Blue House, which was followed by a visit to the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea, and an Official Dinner hosted by Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon at his residence.

The following day, the Crown Prince Couple attended the opening of a business conference at the Shilla Hotel, a Business Lunch, and had a meeting with the Seoul Mayor, after which the Crown Prince attended the opening of the Design Lounge, a panel debate on wind energy, a visit to Hyundai Department Store, and the launch of Leo Pharma Innovation Platform, while the Crown Princess attended a food seminar, the opening of a SDG Seminar, the opening of the Hans Christian Andersen exhibition at the Seoul Museum of History, and the launch of Steinway Lyngdorf Sound Boutique. In the evening, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended a Grand Dinner, with Danish and South Korean businesses.

On the last day, Crown Princess Mary visited the Seoul National University Hospital, the Jongno Children’s Theater, had lunch with prominent Korean women, attended the opening of Fritz Hansen Showroom, and the opening of Royal Copenhagen exhibition at KONG Gallery, while Crown Prince Frederik visited the Lotte World Tower in Songpa-gu , had lunch with Danish food and design companies, and attended Innovation Sprint “Accelerating Next Generation Sustainable Partnerships, In the evening, the Crown Prince Couple attended the opening of the Asger Jorn exhibition at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul, where the Crown Princess gave a speech at the event to mark the Danish-Korean cultural year, followed by a football match, and a Dinner to mark the Danish-Korean cultural year.
