  1. Prince Philip looks pleased as punch to receive his cousin Queen Margrethe! The thing is that Queen Elizabeth is also her cousin through Queen Alexandra, so it’s no wonder that she wore her great grandmother’s most excellent Kokoshnik Diamond Tiara. Not only is it a glittering wall of diamonds, Queen Alexandra was a Danish princess. I read someplace that Queen Silvia of Sweden wore specific tiaras when she visited or met other royal ladies based on what she thought her counterparts would like to see. I think that’s probably true of other royal ladies. I’ll bet Queen Margrethe was chuffed to see that Queen Elizabeth had chosen to honor her Danish heritage by wearing Queen Alexandra’s kokoshnik. Smiles all around!
