Spanish State Visit to Morocco

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain are on a two-day State Visit to Morocco on February 13 and 14, where they are being hosted by King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan Royal Family. Click HERE to take a look at previous Spain-Morocco State Visits!

King Felipe and Queen Letizia were welcomed by King Mohammed VI and the extended Royal Family upon arrival in Rabat in the afternoon of February 13, which was followed by an Official Welcome Ceremony and a Meeting at the Royal Palace of Rabat. Later, the two Kings presided over a bilateral meeting.

In the evening, King Mohammed hosted a State Banquet in honour of King Felipe and Queen Letizia (wearing the Joyas de Pasar Earrings) at the Royal Palace of Rabat, with other members of the Moroccan Royal Family including Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid and Princess Oum Kalthum, Princess Lalla Meryem, Princess Lalla Asma, and Princess Lalla Hasna. Both Kings gave a speech.

On Day 2, King Felipe and Queen Letizia visited the Mohamed V Mausoleum, where they put wreaths in front of the tombs of King Mohamed V and King Hassan II. Afterwards, the King had meetings with various dignitaries at the Agdal Guest Palace, while the Queen the Shemsy Circus School with Princess Lalla Meryem. Later, the Royal Couple received Moroccan writers who write in Spanish at the Residence of the Spanish Ambassador, and the King visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he chaired the Morocco-Spain Economic Meeting  and gave a speech.

In the afternoon, King Felipe and Queen Letizia (wearing Queen Sofia’s Ruby Dove Earrings) hosted a Reception for the Spanish community in Morocco, at the headquarters of the National Library in Rabat, where the King gave a speech. Afterwards, they departed for the Airport to return to Spain.

  1. A gala dinner, but alas, no tiaras! However, Queen Letizia looked beautiful in her white gown and “joyas de pasar” earrings. What a pity that Lalla Salma was nowhere to be found. She’s such a beautiful and elegant lady.
