The Christening of the Prince of Wales  by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Geoffrey Fisher, in the Music Room of Buckingham Palace on this day in 1948, with his parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and godparents: Princess Elisabeth, the Duke of Edinburgh (also representing Prince George of Greece), King George VI, Queen Elisabeth, Queen Mary, the Dowager Marchioness of Milford Haven, Lady Brabourne, David Bowes-Lyon, the Earl of Athlone (representing King Haakon of Norway), and Princess Margaret.
