Norwegian State Visit to China, 1997

King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway are embarking on a State State Visit to China later today, and thus we are taking a look at their last State Visit, in 1997. The King and Queen were greeted in Official Welcome Ceremony by President Jiang Zemin outside The Peoples Great Hall in Beijing, where they also attended a State Banquet that evening.

Also in Beijing, King Harald and Queen Sonja visited the the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and saw the work of Painter Zhang Lichen.

Afterwards, the King and Queen moved to Shanghai, where they attended a Reception At the Garden Hotel, attended a Dinner Given By the Mayor of Shanghai, China, and opened an Exhibition of Paintings by Edvard Munch at the Shanghai Museum.

The last leg of the State Visit took place in the Rural Ares of China, with a visit to a Farming Family in the Village of Baihua near Lijiang, and a walk in the Old Town Of Dayan.
