Happy Birthday to Queen Saleha of Brunei, who turns 72 today! The daughter of Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohammad Alam and Pengiran Anak Hajah Besar, she was the great-granddaughter of the 25th Sultan of Brunei, and the niece of the Queen Anak Damit of Brunei. In 1965, she married her first cousin, Crown Prince Hassanal Bolkiah, who became the Sultan of Brunei in 1967. The couple have six children, and the Sultan also has six children from his two ex-wives, which Queen Saleha has included with her own, as well as sixteen grandchildren. Queen Saleha is the Patron to various organisations related to women and welfare, and her hobbies include reading, playing badminton, playing traditional Bruneian games, and her fruit garden, fish pond and bird park. She is the longest-serving female Consort in the world, after the Duke of Edinburgh. I wish HM a very Happy Birthday and Many Happy Returns!
